Quiz
*** UPDATED 26/11/2011 ***
Summer – what we had of it – has gone so quickly, and already it is autumn and that means it is time for another PTA Quiz!
Following the relative success of our first attempt at running the quiz on our own, we shall again be taking on the task of testing your knowledge and taxing your brains on Saturday, 26th November, from7:30pm in the MAIN SCHOOL HALL, to the left of the school as you come in to the grounds. The evening should last roughly three hours. As usual, entry fee will be £5 per person, or £36 for a team of eight or more. Unfortunately, we can no longer accept teams larger than ten. if you are driving, please use the entrance on the right hand side of the school, as you face it, and use the CAR PARK AROUND THE BACK.
There will be an alcohol stall, selling wines and beers, although you are very welcome to bring your own. Of course, the customary invitation to bring your own food is still there, and we shall be collecting any paper, card, foil, glass and plastic afterwards for recycling.
If you wish to take part or require any further information, please email us.
FURTHER INFO
We received a lot of very constructive feedback after the previous event, and thus we have made a few alterations.
There was an equal measure of praise and criticism for the format of the quiz and the questions provided.
Although I admit the music round could have done with more variety, the results suggest that the rounds were neither too hard nor too easy, as no team scored 0 or 10 on any round, and the average score was around 6.
The exact format has yet to be decided upon, but it will remain similar to the ‘grouping of rounds’ set-up from May. However, we shall have more people marking and collecting answer sheets to enable a smoother running and hope to have more leaderboard updates.
One thing that was universally mentioned was the PA system. It seemed fine when we had an empty hall but once it filled up, I appreciate that it made hearing the questions difficult. This time, we have enlisted the actual PA and the questions will also be displayed on the big screen. The question of the joker being played on the picture round (where there were more questions) was down to an oversight on my part and this won’t be repeated.
Finally, the question of raffle prizes (and their value) is also being addressed, as it was felt that a prize worth £40 wasn’t worth the £1.00 raffle ticket. Many previous prizes have been down to generous donations to the PTA and will be investigating all angles here.
